The Endangered Languages Research Cluster (ELRC) Steering Committee (SC) provides strategic direction, governance, and oversight for the cluster’s research, academic, and community engagement activities. The committee ensures that ELRC’s objectives align with Khulna University’s broader mission and commitment to advancing linguistic diversity, educational excellence, and social responsibility.

The primary objectives of the Steering Committee are to:
Guide the formulation and implementation of the ELRC’s research agenda and strategic plan.
Oversee academic, administrative, and ethical standards in all cluster activities.
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond Khulna University.
Support the development of partnerships with local communities, academic institutions, and policy stakeholders.
Monitor the progress and impact of ELRC projects, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Provide recommendations for capacity building, funding, and publication initiatives.
The Committee shall report its activities and decisions to the ELRC Board.
Annual summaries of activities, research outcomes, and financial reports shall be prepared by the Member Secretary for review.
The Steering Committee shall:
Prepare and propose annual plans, events, initiatives, and budgets for the Cluster to the ELRC Board for approval.
Propose committees and sub-committees of the Cluster and their Terms of Reference to the ELRC Board for approval.
Discuss, review, and endorse research proposals, activities, progress, outcomes, and reports, and submit them to the ELRC Board for approval.
Support the development of training programs, workshops, and academic collaborations.
Facilitate dissemination of research outputs through conferences, publications, and digital platforms.
Advise on grant applications and resource mobilization.
Ensure ethical and participatory research practices in collaboration with communities.
The Steering Committee shall meet at least quarterly in a year or more frequently as required.
The Coordinator shall convene meetings with notice circulated at least one week in advance.
A quorum shall consist of at least half of the total members.
Decisions shall be made by consensus or, where necessary, by majority vote.
The Member-Secretary shall maintain records and circulate meeting minutes.
The Committee shall report its activities and decisions to the ELRC Board.
Annual summaries of activities, research outcomes, and financial reports shall be prepared by the Member Secretary for review.
Members shall serve a three-year term, renewable upon mutual agreement and approval by the Chairperson of the ELRC Board.
Membership may be revised to ensure balanced representation and expertise.
Changes to these Terms of Reference may be proposed by the Steering Committee, which will take effect after being approved by the Coordinator of the Steering Committee and subsequently by the Chairperson of the ELRC Board and reported to the Faculty Meeting (Academic Committee Meeting) of the English Discipline, Khulna University.
